THE MARTIN-HERSILIE ESTATE
SIGIL. an upright, unsheathed dagger on a crimson background | MOTTO. Non inultus premor ("I cannot be touched unavenged") | INDUSTRIES. defence (manufacturing, institution)

Amongst the five original founding families, the Martin-Hersilies are unique in that every single one of its progenitors have been involved in war, and actually have military experience, compared to other aristocrats who bought their way into power. Consequently, the Martin-Hersilies have the defence industry covered - especially now with the Vilgots being under their care. War is the main business of this family. The continuation of the proxy war is good for business and good for the economy of the colonies; after all, it's proven to increase their economic and technological might for the past few centuries. Why stop now?

Most of the Martin-Hersilies are headquartered in L2, which is where the Imperial Headquarters are stationed. The current head of the family is Baron Emrik Martin-Hersilie, callsign "STARLING": a fighter pilot turned politician who wields immense political sway over the Imperial forces in space, and on the Terran ground.

Emrik is a typical Martin-Hersilie in that he went through the Imperial Military College and majored in War and Conflict studies. He then spent a decade becoming a fighter pilot, deployed to multiple theatres in space and in Earth, working his way up the ranks the way every single one of his ancestors have done. He was forced to retire from service by his family following the death of his father, in order for Emrik to take on the role of Minister of Defence. Shortly after the Vilgot corruption scandal, and the subsequent rule of law being carried out by the Imperial guards, Emrik was married to their only daughter, Alba, as a way of consolidating power and bolstering the Martin-Hersilie's standing in court.

Emrik is well-suited for his role. He is a born leader and politician, with a mind for tactics and war and a mind for government. He is a shrewd and controlling man whose entire life is dedicated to the preservation of the Imperial empire. That's not to say he has no ambitions of pushing his family forward to become the next ruling family of the Lunar colonies, it's certainly a preoccupation of the Martin-Hersilies for the longest time, but he is very loyal to the regime's survival. He has very few hobbies outside of work, and when he does get off work, he enjoys hunting wild game and sparring. Emrik, as the heir of one of the founding families, was brought up with the idea that he can do no wrong - and whatever wrong he may do, it will be swept under the rug in a matter of minutes, so long as he doesn't bring shame towards the family. To that end, he has very few vices, and barely any energy to carry out any other affairs, unfortunately becoming loyal to his wife.

While Emrik cares very little about the idea of family and legacy, Emrik, unfortunately, loves Alba. His is an obsessive, jealous love: Alba often has to fight him for freedoms, and everything she does outside of the house is monitored, quite often without her consent or knowledge. To counteract a lot of the arguments he and Alba have been having, Emrik ensures that she is not left wanting when it comes to whatever she desires, and whatever she needs to be successful in her position as a socialite and Baronness. As far as he can tell, this seems to work well. Emrik spends most of his life in headquarters or in Earth, and he is rarely found at home in his estate with her. His way of keeping contact with his young wife is ensuring she's monitored 24/7.
